700 A.D. In Northern Europe

When Kullervo’s family is destroyed by his tyrant uncle, he becomes a slave whose quest is to find his true identity and re-establish the natural order through the power and wisdom of his ancestors.

STORY OF THE 1st SEASON

The story brings us to the first millennium in Northern Europe, where the Finnish tribes live in-harmony with Nature and each other, in their remote Bronze Age villages. Their old sages still remember stories of the Golden Age and they follow the Ancient Law. But the Iron Age comes, turning everything upside down with violence.

To gain dominion over people and Natural resources, Untamo, “The Dream-Weaver”, kills his brother’s noble family with the new weapons made of iron. The family’s three-year-old son Kullervo, “The Golden One”, miraculously survives the war. Without anybody knowing Kullervo’s true noble heritage the boy is raised as a slave, by Untamo’s armourer. When fleeing Untamo’s soldiers Kullervo meets a wise old woman, who teaches him his ancestor’s magic powers.

Two young women challenge Kullervo in love and warrior skills. One of them, Anni, makes a dangerous journey with Kullervo into the Cave of Wisdom in an ancient sacred valley. They manage to discover the mysterious origin of Untamo’s iron weapons. Lead by Kullervo, the ancient clans are united. The final battle is fought at a place called "The Sun’s Grave", between those with weapons and those with wisdom. The balance of Nature is restored and a new Golden Age dawns.

Untamo

Untamo, “The Dream-Weaver”, has subjugated the people and Nature with the power of iron and technology. He is physically and technically gifted and his narcissistic personality causes him to turn to black magic to fulfill his needs. Greed and lust for power prevent Untamo from understanding the relationship between cause and effect - the Ancient Law of Life.

THUS HAVE THE WISE-ONES TOLD:

“The sacred myths gave birth to Creation, the starry sky and all of human history.
The wise knew these origins and sang of them.
The great forces of Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Heaven still work for the good of all beings ...”

Anni K_page-0001.jpg

Anni

What you give is what you get, is Anni’s life lesson. The loneliness of an only child haunts Anni and she is drawn to danger. Her strengths are her belief in life, her inner and outer beauty, her intuition and the gift of witchcraft that she has inherited from her mother. Anni is a vulnerable and sensitive hothead who won’t take no for an answer.

Kyllikki A_page-0001.jpg

Kyllikki

The name Kyllikki derives from the Finnish word for “insatiable”. She holds both men and women under her control. Kyllikki makes the men's heads spin and initiates them into the secrets of love affairs. Kyllikki's life lesson is: The more pleasures one seeks, the more one desires them, but will never be satisfied.

“... Until a huge oak blacked out the light of the sky and a fiery-tailed dragon swallowed the old sun. The Dark Age began - it was a nightmare created by Untamo, the dream-weaver. The three sons of Evil - Envy, Greed and Ignorance - oppress all life on Earth… “

The Seer

The Seer's strength is based on his practical wisdom, skills in magic and knowledge of the powers of animals and Nature. He has a conscious connection to the cosmic forces, and he has mastered the power of the original magic words. The Seer has a tame eagle as his helper, and he rides a moose.

“…The son of the Sun was the first king. From his father he received a knife with a golden haft and a silver blade, as the symbol of a wise and noble ruler…”
